On Friday, November 28, 1997 the 9th annual KIDS FIRST AUCTION, benefitting Scott County, Indiana children, was held and featured national, regional and local musicians. Headlining the entertainment was singer/songwriter/musician Delaney Bramlett.

Other national artists scheduled to appear were Greg Martin (KY Headhunters), Bekka Bramlett and Billy Burnett (Formerly of Fleetwood Mac, now Bekka & Billy), Jeff Guernsey (Vince Gill Band), and from Memphis-Bobby Whitlock.

Regional artists scheduled included Marvin Maxwell,drummer,owner of "Mom's Music", and active volunteer with Louisville's "Musician's Emergency Relief Fund",
Rusty Bladen, Bill Ede, Earl Meyers, Rachel Coogle, and Jimmy Brown, guitarist extraordinare and owner of Guitar Emporium in Louisville. Additional talent may be added.

Held at the Knights of Columbus hall on U.S. 31 N in Scottsburg, the free event began with Scott County and regional talent playing from 9:00 AM-1:00 PM. Afterwards an auction of donated merchandise, including celebrity items from around the country, was estimated to operate until at least midnight. National and regional musicians performed part of each hour and concluded with an all-star jam.

Broadcast live on Scottsburg Cable TV , both in-house and telephone bidding were available. Admission was free and all were invited to enjoy the entertainment and bid. All proceeds went to buy coats and shoes for local children who might otherwise have none.

Directions: exit I-65 at Scottsburg, proceed East 1/2 mile, turn left onto U.S. 31, proceed 1 1/2 miles N to the Knights of Columbus hall, opposite hospital.
